THE BERSHIRE ROWING AND SCULLING SOCIETY

Welcome

BRASS, the Berkshire Rowing and Sculling Society, is dedicated to teach rowing in single sculls and crew boats for pleasure and competition. Since 1995, we have helped hundreds of people discover their ability to move a shell through the water.
Initially known as the Berkshire Sculling Association, we taught people how to row in single shells on the Stockbridge Bowl. As the popularity of rowing grew, our teaching expanded to include scholastic teams, and the need for a boathouse became apparent.

In late fall of 2000, a city owned building became available at Burbank Park on Onota Lake in Pittsfield. The association subsequently applied and gained approval for developing a community rowing program from the Pittsfield Park Commission and City Council.

After a successful fund drive, the building was converted into a boathouse and shells and equipment purchased.

DIRECTIONS TO THE CUYLER BOATHOUSE:

Driving east toward Pittsfield on Route 20-

Pass Hancock Shaker Village

Pass a car wash on your left

See a Shell gas/convenience store on your left and a MacDonald’s in the distance on your right.

TURN LEFT just before the Shell station. This is

GALE ROAD

. It is at a 45 degree

Angle to Route 20.

TURN RIGHT onto

JASON ST

; the first right turn.

Travel straight to the traffic light,

West St.

CONTINUE STRAIGHT THROUGH THE LIGHT. You are now on

VALENTINE RD.

Travel about half a mile. You will pass Taconic High School on your right.

See a big sign on the left for BURBANK PARK

TURN LEFT into the park.

Drive straight down to the south parking lot. You will now be facing the water.

Park at the far right end of the parking lot.

Walk alone the paved walkway, about 200ft. Turn left at the first dirt fork. You will see the dock and the brown boathouse. WELCOME!

Driving west on Route 20, turn RIGHT onto GALE RD and follow the above directions.

Driving away from Pittsfield on WEST ST, turn RIGHT onto VALENTINE RD and follow the above directions.

From PECKS RD, turn LEFT onto VALENTINE RD and RIGHT into BURBANK PARK.

THE BOATHOUSE IS NOT VISIBLE FROM THE PARKING LOT.
